ABOUT SYDNEY
For our international visitors, it’s a city of iconic attractions and brilliant beaches. Sydney is not only home to icons like the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House, there are Museums and Galleries among the best in the world, rooftop bars, theatre shows & live music concerts and great shops at every turn. When you’ve explored all the attractions and are ready to relax you can perfectly balance your days by visiting one of the many beautiful sandy beaches Sydney’s coastline has to offer.

STAY

Beachside - Bondi and Watsons Bay
These boutique hotels are on Bondi Beach. Think beautiful coastline, a young, fun crowd, and great places to drink and dine. For something more chilled on the harbour side but still with beautiful cliff top walks, Watsons Bay is a relaxing spot with a fun bayside bar attached (albeit it’s a slightly longer trip to the city).

If you want to be in the heart of the city, the CBD hosts some of Sydney’s more luxury hotels. A great location, the harbour nearby, and close to Sydney icons like the Harbour Bridge, Opera House and art museums. Slightly more village-y but still upmarket is Double Bay, about 10 minutes from the CBD with the Intercontinental Double Bay.
EAT
-
Shell House (beautiful design, Australian, over multiple levels with cocktails on the upper level)
Bistecca (underground, speakeasy)
Restaurant Hubert (underground Parisian jazz restaurant and bar)
Grana (modern Italian in a historic building and right near the ferry wharf, also has coffee & baked goods to takeaway in the morning)
Otto (wharfside Italian, yes there’s better food but there’s nowhere better for long lunching by the water)
Felix (Sydney’s answer to Balthazar)
Mr. Wong (Chinese, cavernous, cool interior, ask to sit downstairs)
Cafe Sydney (go for the view, day or night, ask to sit on the terrace)
Quay (if you want a degustation, there’s other fine dining options but these guys have been at or near the top for 20 years, plus it has some of the best views unless there’s a cruise ship parked in front of you)
Rockpool Bar & Grill (elevated American grill in an art deco atrium)
Monopole (creative, playful, with a great wine list)
Lana (modern Mediterranean, New York vibe)
Yok Yor (the place to go for authentic Thai food)
Home Thai (make sure you try the super tasty pad thai)
Flour & Stone (bakery & café, our go to for a moorish slice of cake)
-
10 Williams (tiny but really, really great vibe and delicious food)
Fred’s (beautiful room and a cool bar downstairs)
Saint Peter (innovative, globally acclaimed seafood restaurant)
Firedoor Restaurant (trained with Asador Etxebarri, and doing things with fire that are worth eating)
Paski Vineria Popolare (Italian, great wine and food)
La Panchina (it doesn’t look like much but we believe this is Sydney’s best pizza)
Jane Surry Hills (neighborhood, cute, modern Australian cuisine)
Pellegrino 2000 (vibey, popular, Italian)
Chin Chin (warehouse, Asian fusion)
Paramount House (hipster hotel café vibes)
Alberto’s Lounge (Italian, hidden in an alleyway)
South Dowling Sandwiches (Clauds go-to is the “biatch”)
Spice I am (for the best thai cheap eats)
Indian Home Diner (late night kebab)
-
Catalina (I take it back, there is a better place than Otto for long lunching by the water, this place is epic by day and just magic at night)
The Apollo (really great Greek, have the slow cooked lamb)
Cho Cho San (Japanese Fusion)
Fratelli Paradiso (Italian, classic local spot, good energy)
Margaret (top seafood driven restaurant, really, really good)
Next Door (to Margaret, low key, and purported to have Sydney’s best burger)
Bistrot 916 (dark and moody French, with a small bar in the back)
Parlar (Spanish tapas in an elevated room)
Small’s Deli (the Green Goddess is TOPS, take it for a walk and eat by the water or at the botanical gardens)
-
Skittle Lane
Icebergs Dining Room and Bar (worth a visit for a sunset dinner)
Mimi’s (spectacular view, truly great food, priced accordingly but worth it, have a caviar bump)
Sean’s Panaroma (Australian, farm to table, opposite Bondi…hard to get better than that)
Totti’s (Italian, fun, good crowd, lovely courtyard)
Lox Stock & Barrel (café, good for brunch)
Blackwood Bondi (casual, local brunch spot)
Fish Shop (dine in or take-out and have it at Ben Buckler looking over the beach)
Lox in a Box (Bagels)
Bill’s (put Aussie breakfasts on the map, and now a bit ubiquitous)
The Depot (café, babes in bikinis, and breakfast burritos)
Raw Bar (the views are better than the sushi, but you’re across the street from Bondi so you’ll live)
North Bondi Fish (steps from the sand)
MyFlowerMan (just coffee with a flower shop above Tamarama beach)
Coastal Walks: Bondi to Bronte, Watsons Bay and The Hermitage Foreshore walk
Sydney Bridge Climb
Fresh Produce Markets: Bondi Markets
Taronga Zoo
The Royal Botanic Gardens
Some great places we love to explore in Sydney.
ACTIVITIES
Bondi, Bronte, Clovelly (great snorkelling), Milk Beach and Gordons Bay are some of our favourites. Camp Cove and Redleaf are some lovely harbour swimming spots.
We also love Shark Beach (rest assured, no Sharks!) Mahon Pool is a great Rock Pool also.
If you want to venture North - Palm Beach, Whale Beach and Avalon are beautiful beaches. Balmoral Beach is also a super kid-friendly harbour beach on the northside, which is great for a sunset swim and fish & chips on the sand.
*As a general reminder: At all patrolled beaches please swim between the flags, this is the safest spot to swim at any Sydney beach. Waves are a good sign and quiet water usually means rips (unless you’re at harbour beaches).
